Warren Perry from Perry Architecture & Design was employed to help refine the concept and bring the design to life. The exterior of the house is clad in charred Japanese cedar from Sugi NZ, the charring process creates durability and depth to the cladding that was in keeping with the overall concept. Entering the home through handmade Totara front doors you get a glimpse of the expansive rural views leading you to the open plan living space. The kitchen has been designed and built by Mangawhai Design, recycled bricks salvaged the iconic Real Groovy Records building have been used with recycled Oak paneling and Neolith Porcelain bench tops, the custom made blued steel rangehood provides an industrial edge to the space. Internal walls have been lined with recycled Rimu roof sarking, 80+ years of weathering has created a very unique finish. Insitu concrete has been used for both the indoor and outdoor fireplaces, polished concrete floors with rimu and kauri inlays creates a connection between the differing materials. Outdoor spaces have been finished with Millboard decking and oceanic schist crazy paving.
